// CHAPTER 02 · SPRINT MECHANICS

From scoping call to GitHub PR, in 14 days.

A sprint is a tightly-scoped engagement with a measurable artifact at the end. Here is the lifecycle — the same one that produced the cases above.

  1. 01

    Sprint call (30 minutes).

    You meet a DaWabbit engineering lead and a possible squad match. You walk through scope, repo access, success criteria, and the artifact you want in 14 days. No slide deck — just the codebase and the calendar.

    Median ramp-up after this call: 58 hours to first commit on your repo.

  2. 02

    Squad assembly (T-72h).

    We pull a lead + 1–3 specialists from the curated bench (top 4.7% of applicants; every lead has shipped at scale at a YC, a16z, or Sequoia-backed company). Contract is signed weekly — no minimum longer than one sprint.

    Bench size: 140 engineers across 19 countries.

  3. 03

    Sprint execution (days 1–14).

    Daily async standups in a dedicated Slack channel (avg lead response time: 9 minutes during business hours), weekly demo on Friday, and a shippable artifact definition locked from day one. Velocity is measured in story points; the 2024 average is 47 points per engineer-week.

    Format: weekly billing, product-team cadence, Slack-first.

  4. 04

    Artifact hand-off or refund.

    On day 14 you get the artifact in your repo. If we don't ship a deployable artifact that meets the sprint's acceptance criteria, the sprint is free. We have delivered 312 sprints without a refund claim — the guarantee is real, not marketing copy.

    Refund-claim count: 0 of 1,840 sprints since 2019.

// CLIENT VOICE

“They didn't send a deck. They sent a senior engineer to our sprint call who had clearly read our repo the night before, told us which two abstractions to cut, and shipped the auth rewrite by Friday. We kept them for nine more sprints and never looked at an agency again.”

Maya Okafor Co-founder & CTO, Linnea (Series A, fintech, ex-YC S22)
